Building community connections: boards, partners work together through SCC grants

Through School Community Connections grants, boards of education and their partners are opening up schools beyond regular hours, with programs that benefit not only students but the entire community. In the latest Education Leader, find out about the innovative and constructive ways that different boards are working with their communities on SCC projects.

SCC grants, administered by BCSTA and the Union of BC Municipalities on the Ministry of Education’s behalf, enable boards and partners to transform school facilities into vital, lively hubs of broad-based activities and services.

In the same Leader issue, you'll find out more about your Education Committee, including an interview with Chair Linda McPhail.

No e-Digest next week, but we'll be back the following one; see you at Academy!

As BCSTA staff will be working at the Ability Academy next Thursday, we won't be publishing an e-Digest. But, like the rain, e-Digest can always be counted on to return. We'll be back with another issue on December 10.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at Academy, starting with the opening session. At 7 pm (registration at 5 pm), it features President Connie Denesiuk's welcome, a tuneful performance by the Vancouver School Board's Honour Youth Choir, plenary by paralympian Carla Qualtrough, and much more.
