Changes to Compensation Limits for School Superintendents
Legislation (Bill 33-2008) has just been introduced in Victoria today that when passed will give boards of education the autonomy to independently determine the level of compensation for superintendents. This means that superintendent compensation will no longer be limited by BCPSEA or PSEC guidelines. The Bill also makes changes to the disclosure of executive compensation for all public sector employers.
In February 2007, BCSTA passed a Provincial Council Resolution 5.3, which asked that boards be given the ability to pay administrative staff in a way that “reflects both the areas they work in and the work load they assume”.
BCSTA will be meeting with Ministry officials, BCPSEA and BCSSA to discuss the ramifications of the legislation and will keep boards informed as information comes available.
