A Guide to School Legislation in British Columbia

BCSTA is proud to announce the fifth edition of A Guide to School Legislation in British Columbia, incorporating the major changes to education legislation from the spring 2007.

This edition details how new legislation impacts on school fees, criminal records searches, mandatory retirement, expanded mandates for newly-named “boards of education,” tobacco use, College of Teachers’ discipline, and more.

A new feature is the addition of “more information” sections at the end of each chapter, providing links to source and supplementary information.

As with previous editions, the Guide offers:

  • organization by subject
  • context information on the major issues in education today
  • plain-language explanations of provincial statutes, regulations, orders and policies – when they are relevant, what they mean, and how they work together
  • the most current analysis of a comprehensive collection of legislation, including amendments to statutes, regulations and orders
