Board of Directors
Board of Directors membership is composed of the following positions:
- President
- Vice-President
- Four Directors
- Immediate Past President *
- Executive Director
With the exception of the Immediate Past President and the Executive Director, members of the Board of Directors are elected each year at the BCSTA Annual General Meeting. The President, Vice-President and the Directors must be trustees serving on a member board of education.
The Executive Director is appointed by the Board of Directors, is responsible to the Board of Directors, and cannot be a trustee. Though a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director does not have a vote.
If the Immediate Past President ceases to be a trustee during his or her tenure in this position, the position becomes an advisory one. Otherwise, this too is a voting position.
Board of Directors biographies and contact information are available on our website.
* In years for which there is no Immediate Past President — this office having a maximum term of one year — there are five Directors.

Observers
BCSTA Board of Directors welcomes school trustees to attend Board meetings. In order to ensure that sufficient space and materials are available, observers are kindly asked to notify the BCSTA office of their intent to attend a Board meeting.
Equal opportunity to participate in, and influence the work of BCSTA is provided to members through Provincial Council, the Annual General Meeting, and Standing Committees. Therefore, presentations and formal question periods are not normally scheduled for Board of Directors’ meetings. Documents in draft form will normally not be available for circulation but will be posted on the website once finalized by the Board.
