Annual General Meeting

BCSTA holds an Annual General Meeting and may hold Special General Meetings at other times if deemed necessary by the Board of Directors.

At these meetings, delegates are school trustees from member boards, accredited by these boards. Where ballot votes are required, such as for elections of BCSTA officers, boards of education are allotted votes on the basis of the number of students registered in their district.

The Association’s officers are elected at the AGM, an educational program is delivered, and substantive motions and extraordinary motions are debated. Motions may be submitted to the Legislative Committee by boards, branches, the Provincial Council, the Board of Directors or the Education or Aboriginal Education Committees.

The eligibility of motions for consideration at the AGM is governed by bylaws, and is administered by the Legislative Committee.

BCSTA produces a summary of business conducted in the form of an AGM Report of Proceedings.

Observers

Observer are welcome at our Provincial Council or AGM. There is a designated area for observers at our meetings. However, in order to ensure that sufficient space and materials are available, observers are kindly asked to notify the BCSTA office of their intent to attend a meeting. Observers may not participate or ask questions during Provincial Council and AGM
