Mount Nelson Athletic Park It started as the brainchild of several soccer dads – and is now a popular, accessible community facility. Mount Nelson Athletic Park evolved from the dads’ vision of a safe, well-maintained, multi-purpose recreational facility for their children and community. With the help of the Rocky Mountain Board of Education, District of Invermere, and the Rotary Club of Invermere, along with partner commitment and a lot of volunteers, vision became reality. As well as a picturesque landscape, the large park on land donated by the school district, offers walking paths, rest stops and a concession. Its athletic facilities include two soccer fields, two baseball fields, a skateboard park and a field house. In future, the park will gain tennis and basketball courts, not to mention such enhancements as backstops, fencing, additional landscaping, benches and signage. Further development may include dirt tracks for bikes, lawn bowling and night lighting.
