Royal Oak branches out

As Royal Oak Middle School grows, so do the opportunities for its community. Significant expansion of Royal Oak resulted in significantly improved facilities. Through a joint venture between the Saanich School District and the Municipality of Saanich Parks and Recreation Department, Royal Oak gained an upgraded gymnasium and woodworking shop. The gym was divided into two separate activity areas.  Cabinets were added to the art, music, drama and home economics classrooms for storage. A community office was also built in the school.

After school hours, the school's new facilities now offer a variety of after school activities and programs, for youth and community members.  Activities include basketball, dance, ethnically diverse cooking, community bands and woodworking.
