Revised (Nov 20 2008)
Levels of community involvement
Most community engagement programs have at least four stages:
- education and information
- dialogue and issue resolution
- decision-making, and
- ongoing communications and feedback.
|
Community engagement can range from gathering input to shared decision-making. The level and scope of involvement will vary depending on the nature of the issue, the time and resources available and the community itself. Involving the community in the decision-making process is one way to ensure the views of all parties are considered.
For more information about community engagement see Section 2, The Key Work, Relationships with the community; and Section 5, Reference materials, Community engagement.
