"Public education is one of my core values. I got involved as a school trustee because I got so upset with the province. I decided I wanted a voice. One of the most difficult things for new trustees to do is to refrain from micromanaging. Leave the managing decisions to the district staff. Your job is to set policy and direction. For example, our board was very supportive of reducing class sizes and staff took that direction."
