Community engagement
BCSTA describes the mandate of boards of education as improving student achievement through community engagement. Annual planning activities, policy adoption and budget-setting provide many opportunities to gather input from the education community and the public.
As boards work through the process of developing communication plans, they become more aware of their audiences, opportunities for engagement and approaches that work best in their communities. Your district probably has many community engagement processes in place, some that work well and others that may benefit from a fresh approach.
The key to successful communications and community engagement is delivering the right message, to the right audience, at the right time. That requires careful planning.
