"I was a parent of two kids when I started speaking up at meetings. People would come up to me and say, “Why don’t you get more involved?” So I joined the PAC and later DPAC and then ran for school trustee. What keeps me involved is knowing we are making a difference. We’ve had to make some difficult decisions, like school closures, but we’re focused on making sure we have the proper resources for kids. There are serious issues to deal with, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Just stay focused on your values and keep a smile on your face."
